Best RMT Massage in Downtown Vancouver - Deep Tissue Sports Massage
- Will my insurance company cover a massage provided by a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT)?
Yes, a vast majority of insurance companies will reimburse you for your massage. You will be provided a receipt with all the necessary information. Please contact your insurance company directly to see what your plan cover. Please note I do not offer direct billing.
- Do I need a doctor's referral to see an RMT?
You do not need a doctor's referral to have a massage by an RMT. However, some insurance companies require a referral to reimburse you. Please contact your insurance company directly prior to your treatment for more information.
- Will I experience pain during or after a massage?
Depending on the reason you are getting a massage, you may experience some pain during and/or after your treatment (eg. deep tissue, sports massage). Let me know if you are experiencing pain during the treatment and I will adjust my pressure or technique accordingly. A little bit of soreness is normal the day after a massage. However, if it is uncomfortable, you can ice the affected area for 10-20m. Also, feel free to email me at rmt@genevamanilova.com with any questions or concerns.
- I am pregnant. Is massage therapy safe for me?
Massage therapy is great to have during your pregnancy to help your body adjust to the new changes (center of gravity shift, lax ligaments, etc). During the first trimester massage to the low back is contraindicated, but you can get any other part of your body treated. Starting with the second trimester, low back can be massaged as well. As you get to a point when lying on your stomach is uncomfortable, you will either lie on a pregnancy pillow or on your side supported by pillows.
- Is bruising normal after a massage?
Typically bruising is something your therapist will want to prevent. Let me know if you were bruised and which areas next time you see me.
