Best RMT Massage in Downtown Vancouver - Deep Tissue Sports Massage
- Your first appointment will begin with a review of your medical history, signs and symptoms present, as well as any applicable orthopedic assessment and testing.
- You will then have a few minutes in private to disrobe and lie face down (most cases) on the table.
Most of the time you will undress down to your bottom underwear. If hip flexors or glutes need to be treated, you may be asked to undress fully. You will be fully draped at all times, besides the direct area being treated. Your privacy and comfort will always be respected. If you do not feel comfortable undressing fully, please let me know and I'll find an alternative way to treat the area.
- Throughout the massage I'll be checking in with you to make sure the pressure is acceptable. I use a pressure scale of 1-5: 1 is light pressure; 2 is moderate pressure; 3 is a good therapeutic pain; 4 is a bit of an intense pain that you can breathe through; 5 is "stop". At any point, if you feel a 4 or a 5, please speak up so I can adjust the pressure. You should never tense up or hold your breath during the treatment.
- After the massage, you'll have a few minutes in private to get dressed and come out of the room. In most cases you'll be given home care: stretches and/or exercises to prolong the effects of the treatment and to prevent return or exacerbation of symptoms previously experienced. Home care is very important! Even if you come for a massage once a week, you are responsible for what happens to your body the remaining 167 hours.
- I will also create a treatment plan for you with recommendations as to when to return for a follow up or a maintenance massage. Prevention is always better than correction. Usually for maintenance I recommend getting a massage every 1 to 3 months.
